Yoga as a New Allergy Treatment

Research has shown that yoga has helped to give relief from asthma, hay fever and is recognized as a new allergy treatment in about 60% of the cases studied. Allergic reactions include breathing problems like suffocation, congestion in the chest and throat. Such breathing problems may affect your sleep. You may wake up at night gasping for breath and struggling to breathe. Allergies can also set off sneezing bouts, cause the eyes to water, and the nose to run. They can also bring on headaches.
Allergies are very common and lots of people suffer from some kind of allergy. Yoga helps to get relief from allergic reaction because it involves breathing exercises. This makes yoga a worthwhile allergy remedy. A fundamental principle of yoga is to have control over your breathing and thereby regulating your bodily functions, and thought processes. When you have mastered the technique of controlling your breathing, you will find that you are able to breathe normally.
Before you start practising yoga, you should know more about allergies, particularly about the allergies you suffer from. Allergies which affect your breathing range from Rhinitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, and asthma to emphysema. You should consult your doctor to diagnose your particular problem. Unfortunately, people do not always tell the doctor every symptom relating to their problem. This makes it difficult for the doctor to arrive at the correct diagnosis of the condition.
Most often people do not bother to meet the doctor again, once they find relief from their allergic reactions. They believe that they are cured, permanently. Unfortunately, this will not be the case. Substances that cause allergies are known as allergens. The air is full of substances that commonly occur in nature, such as pollen, dust, mold and so on.
People who are hypersensitive to these substances are affected by these allergens when they come in contact with them. Inhaling such allergens can also bring on allergic reactions. Allergic reactions result when these foreign particles, or allergens, attack the immune system of the body.
